Thrive will always be one of my favorite company launches.
I was brought in before there was an approved company name. As a first-time acquisition for Third Rock Ventures, Thrive needed to combine the culture of an existing office in Baltimore, MD and new employees in Cambridge, MA. On my first day in Baltimore, I knew Thrive was special. When I walked into the lab, some of the scientists were dancing to music and having a good time. They were celebrating. I thought they had hit a milestone - finding their 1000th person with cancer that they were about to help. What they told me was shocking. They were dancing to celebrate another person they found WITHOUT cancer. It was mind-blowing and heart-felt. I instantly loved them and made sure we captured the essence of that moment in their employee value proposition.
With a hiring surge on the horizon, we came up with #ThriveWithUs and decided that we needed a picture that embodied the life that everyone brought to Thrive. I gathered them all in their – yet to be designed – lab space and said okay 1…2…3…JUMP and they did!
